Everybody thought he’s a whack job. I’ve never met him, but he seems to know what he wants to do and he’s not afraid to say what he thinks.” So that was successful, but what about any other acts who bowed out a little soon and are in need of a comeback!? Well, Toni Braxton probably fits that bill quite well! One of the hottest female singers of the late 80’s, Toni’s rise to fame was a ride on a sky rocket! By the mid 90’s, Toni had well established herself as as an R&B icon and became one of the best-selling female artists of the decade, accumulating such mega-star titles such as the “Queen of R&B”! She is to this day, recognized as one of the most outstanding voices of this generation and in fact through her career has sold more than 67 million records, including 41 million albums worldwide. However, Toni was in financial troubles around the time she was hugely successful which seems illogical. By ‘96, Toni had sold more than 20 million records; unfortunately, she was still waiting on her financial rewards, eventually launching an unsuccessful lawsuit against Arista and LaFace Records. She later filed for bankruptcy which brought about a harsh public reaction from the public, causing Toni to express her feelings in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. Braxton relinquished the rights to many of her valued possessions, including the Grammys and American Music Awards she had previously won. It was good news when she was able to make a come autobabes.com.auautobabes.com.au back though, with the signing of a new $20 million contract. In March 2000, LaFace Records released “He Wasn’t Man Enough”, the first single from Toni’s third studio album, The Heat’.’ By June 2000, the song peaked at number two on the Hot 100 chart and No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart. This put Toni well and truly back on the road to success and this time, that success continued through her remaining career and retirement in 2013. On the USA show Good Morning America, she announced her retirement clarifying her retirement is from music but that she would focus on acting: “I have to do shows here and there, but I’m not gonna do any albums, I’m falling out of love with it, it’s weird. I don’t know what to say when I hear songs. They don’t impact me. I’ve been trying to listen to songs, record companies have been calling me, so it’s a good situation to be in, but I’m not really interested at all”. By the end of 2013 though, Toni had made a return comeback to music with her Summer Tour and another comeback to Broadway alongside BabyFace in the play After midnight. In ‘15, she headed back to the studio for an 8th album and later Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart was released on her life. Toni Braxton still stands as the comeback Queen, but there is room for that encore that will allow her to take the proper bow for the award winning career she has lived,<autobabes.com.auwww.DODGE.comNext >
